Open letter to human rights veteran Adv Colin Gonsalves

 Respected Sir,

1. I found an article on web that you're arguing in favor of gender biased law on marital rape where practically any disgruntled women who want to break away from marriage for any reason without any fault of innocent husband can use this law to blackmail, extort the husbands and label a husband with the most henious of crimes effectively destroying his life and the life of his family including his parents and siblings etc. 
   
   
2. This at the time when men had slipped into minority about two decades ago with high misuse of law and have been suffering immeasurable hurt & losses due to draconian laws like 498A, DV, 376, 354 where mere testimony of women is sufficient to convict males. (Yes, sir, I am only a nano-particle before your knowledge and experience but knows a thing or two about these laws and its real impact on the ground). Few links from one of the activists (Martyrs of Marriage, Story of a father, Rarest of rare where a false accuser was caught after destroying 7 families). Many such stories exist and these are nothing compared to the millions of actually suffering males of false cases in India.
   
   
3. I checked about you and you're a graduate of the no. 1 institute in our country, the most respected among the IITs.
   You're also the senior most advocate on human rights in our country. You've achieved so much and are such a respectable personality. It was also heartwarming to read that you stood up for Afzal. I had quickly read somewhere that in some court, he had to cross-exam himself because no one would represent him given the negative sentiment and gravity of crime. Irrespective of the facts, truth and crime, our constitution gives right to everyone to have a fair trial and you taking up his appeal showed your truest ethics and values and I respect you for that.
   
   
4. That is why it hurts a lot to see you on the wrong side. I read your statement that you will never take up cases of man against woman irrespective of merits and truth. You have either some deep rooted hatred for males due to some unfortunate past experiences or you hold some wrong beliefs on gender supremacy. Whatever your beliefs may be but as a top human rights advocate, it is betrayal of your own self and everything that you stand for, to say that you will turn a blind eye when human rights of a man are violated by a woman and no matter how meritorious and innocent a man's case be, you will never defend his human rights. And you're playing a major role in making it worse for human rights violations of millions of males in India. Absolutely shameful and heartbreaking.
   
   
5. The ideal stand should have been to keep it simple by always standing up for truth, respect, dignity of every living being or at least rights of every human irrespective of gender, caste, creed, region, religion, nationality etc. You chose to be gender biased and that's where you betrayed us. It is fine, there are many such people called "feminists" who scream about equality and equal treatment of women but start their rhetoric with demand for reservation, special treatement and special laws for women. But they neither deserve nor get any respect unlike you.
   
   
6. I just want to let you know that by being gender biased, by not supporting the truth, you've supported the darkness, lie, deceit, evil. You've crossed the boundary which you should not have and it is sad to see you going there despite your near perfect achievements and ideology. You carry part of blame for suicide and sufferings of countless men who are completely innocent and facing the brutalities which no human should face (speaking from personal experience). And thus, sir, with great apologies, I would like to say that I do not wish you success in your present endeavor although I do stand on the other side and hope you will return and do the right thing one day, some day and stand for truth and true equality. There's also a supreme court of justice elsewhere. I shall wait for you on the other side.

Instead,

• Bring gender neutrality in all laws
• Bring law on recording of evidence and standard of evidence. Allow cctvs in bedrooms, law on explicit consent registered through apps which can be used in case of dispute,
• Discard the wrong notion on gender supremacy that in 1:1 fight, any man, every man can always win against every woman or are even willing to beat women. Men won't have a success ratio greater than even 60% in case of 1:1 fair fights and actual success ratio could be far less, falling below 50% also. The world has changed a lot sir.
• India needs to innovate and not ape morally bankrupt and failed countries like the US, UK etc. Indian culture and Indian talent is far greater than these countries. Advocates, Judiciary, Justice system, political system has completely failed the talent pool of India and you, sir, is making it worse unfortunately.
• Efficient court system which punishes & destroys false accusers, gives quick and efficient justice with no defamation, no hassles in travel etc until end of trial. I have many ideas on this.
• Rights of undertrial prisoners in India hardly exists, so much scope there but you will only side with feminist propaganda to divide, destroy and rule the destroyed world. Sad.
• And so many more.
